We cant' deny the cynicism and callousness of which humans are capable. We also can't deny the courage and compassion that offer us hope. It's our choice which characteristics we'll steer our lives by.
   - Paul Loeb, The Soul of a Citizen

The universe bends toward justice.

Welcome to universe-Wired Learning!

To help learning become more filled with personal meaning and thereby more satisfying for learners everywhere--especially in classrooms where learning has been made to be punitive and painful--this is the mission of this site. To launch this project, we tailor a page from one of our world's most universally meaningful and satisfying stories, Victor Hugo's Les Miserables. The result is our Site Manifesto:

As long as classrooms exist in which learners learn facts about subjects and not truths about themselves, acquire skills to raise test scores but not understandings to deepen their awareness of their classmates and their communities; as long as learners find no help in forming larger questions and following these questions to new perspectives on their world and universe homes and how they fit there--so long as classrooms persist on earth in which learners learn what things are worth but fail to discover what their own lives mean and what they themselves value--sites like this cannot be useless.
